DETROIT POLICE...BILLIONAIRES...PUBLIC SAFETY - NOW

I have sent the below email to numerous media outlets and Legislatures, Mayor and City Council with NO RESPONSE...Why ???? Is asking Billionaires to pay to protect their 'sports' palaces and the public - not worth a discussion. Is asking the millions of Suburbanites who frequent these 'sports' palaces too much considering that they were financed, in part, with Detroit tax payer dollars ($$$$$$ millions of them.

Email: The Legislature needs to allow Detroit to add a $2.00 surcharge to every entertainment ticket sold for a Detroit venue - CoMerica Park, the Fox Theater, Ford Field, State Theater, Music Hall, and the new Ilitch Ice (Red Wing) etc...with those funds dedicated to hiring new police officers, with higher hiring standards (2 -4 yrs of college / military) and better training....too long has Ilitch and Ford and others taken advantage of Detroit tax payers and the Detroit Police Department by not paying for their services - which is down in every other major city, just do it..

Detroit Police had 854 police officers = DOWNTOWN - during the Fireworks....later, a woman had her home broken into, in broad daylight, and it took DPD Officers - four and a half (4 1/2) hours to respond, saying they had 12 priority runs stacked up.

Detroit Police has a documented staff shortage, I suggested that DPD needed 1,000 new officers (that was a long time ago) and Chief James Craig says he needs 1,500 new officers. DPD is NOT properly protecting the residents of Detroit - because - THEY CAN'T.... and the situation will get worse with the opening of the new Ilitch Red Wing 'sports' palace, which will include many internationally known musical artist performing there, adding to the need for more DPD Officers - where are they coming from???

DPD cannot properly hire and retain police officers, because of low pay and benefits - many graduate the Academy and immediately turn in their badges for Suburban police badges, whee the pay and benefits are so much better.

So Governor Snyder, Michigan Legislators, Mayor Duggan and Detroit City Council - it is up to you to find the funding for the Detroit Police Department in Lansing, Washington, Troy, Southfield, W Bloomfield, Birmingham - wherever the money is DPD needs it for PUBIC SAFETY, how many murders will have to occur of Suburbanites before they act.

DEMOCRATS NEED LEADERS AND A PLAN...TO WIN NOW.... 2017

DEMOCRATS - FIND A LEADER / PLATFORM....

A popular saying is going around:
Democrats have 70 year old members and 80 year old leaders.

It's would be funny if not true...Democrats who had to oppose the withering opposition of Republicans, who HATED everything President Obama, said or did --- have now got to suffer having Donald Trump, as the Republican President presiding with a Republican Congress and soon maybe, a Supreme Court.

But what has been the Democratic response - nothing, just talk, oppose and do nothing - When they should be finding a new Leader, younger leadership, and developing a Health Care initiative to fix 'Obamacare', to counter the morass that Republicans have been sucked into.

Democrats need to develop a 'tax reform' program that is an alternative to 'tax breaks for the rich', They need to set an spending agenda and the tax structure to support it and a path to fiscal responsibility.

Democrats need to show Why 'climate change' matters to blue collar, middle class people, who need to make a living now - and can wait out dramatic climate change long in the future.

Democrats must fight 'gerrymandering' in every State, to make sure that everyone VOTE counts, not just in 'safe' districts. They need to make it fair to Democrats and Republicans and Independents so that anyone can win and election based on their plans and policies - not their Party.
Democrats must admit - they lost - and need to rebuild the Party.. The Republicans held a 'coming to Jesus' meeting to expand their Party, they didn't follow the plan, but won anyway.

Democrats have a chance to reverse the horrendous losses, but they must start NOW and work to bring people together with solid plans and programs to bring American together.

Health Care, Taxes, foreign, social and environmental policies must be formed and supported and presented to the American people - so that the see the difference between Democrats and Republicans.
