Mike Ilitch owes the City up to $12m - for failing to secure and maintain Tiger Stadium under the City agreements...And if he can afford $214m for Fielder + Verlanders, Cabrera, etc..
Justin Verlander Salary Info and Value - Detroit Tigers Salaries -- Baseball Player Salaries - google / and click to see...
...
Councilman Ken Cockrel knows Ilitch owes the money - ask him....and
Ilitch can afford to pay for DPD officers assigned to the Tiger / Red Wing games.
The City of Detroit can't afford to demolish dangerous park bathrooms, and threaten to fire city workers - and want to raise coporate taxes to 2%...then the Council should demand that Ilitch pay up.

DETROIT POLICE 'MAYTAG REPAIRMEN' INVESTIGATED FOR SPEED
INFO UPDATE...FROM DETROIT POLICE OFFICERS...
Since Detroit PC Godbee thinks DPD Officers are 'Maytag' repairmen, just sitting around waiting for something to happen....it seems he has hit upon an idea to keep some investigators busy - he must have too many homicide investigators...
PC Godbee has ordered investigations of all police cars that exceed - 80mph - be investigated...and some POs have been written up, including a duo that was responding to and 'officer needs assistance' call.....
POs...apparently cannot pursue speeders - now...either....
Their is no abandoned car officer in the 6th/8th/ Northwest District (?) that means stolen cars are not being found...abandon, stripped, vehicles are not being removed from city streets..
Community relations officers have been put on street patrol - leaving a void
'Virtual Precincts' remove a valuable contact point between residents and police officers..
Some residents, when the precincts were actually open, had to wait for hours to make a police report...
Godbee and Bing have it wrong - Detroit residents and police officers deserve better...
If you have a comment leave one...or comment on Facebook...

DETROIT CRIMES NUMBERS LIE - SO DOES POLICE CHIEF
What happens in Detroit stays in Detroit - not TRUE...
What happens in Detroit may have impact on residents in the Suburbs.
Detroit PC Godbee closing Detroit police stations for 16 hours a day - means that more crime goes unreported, even with 'more police on patrol' and emboldens criminals to cross the borders and then go home free to Detroit where less police patrols, enforcement and lack of police reporting may give them a feeling of safety - while Detroit residents feel unsafe and afraid and so should suburban residents.
Recent articles in the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press on TV and radio, mislead the public into believing that crime in Detroit is down - UNTRUE. The reporters relied on numbers supplied by PC Godbee.
Detroit Police are now warning NAIAS / Detroit Auto Show visitors not to park on some streets because of an increase in auto break ins.
The reason that there were 7300 less part 1 crimes...is because they go unreported....!!!!
The lack of police response to 911 calls, home invasions (2 across from me), the time it takes to get thru to TCRU, the time it takes to make a report in a station - and now you cant even do that now that stations are closed 16 hrs a day - means that less crime is being reported.
Detroit residents feel they wont get a 911 response...and police officers trying to discourage making a report because CRINET is so time consuming - means less reported crime ( I didn't report 5 break ins to my garage - because I knew there was no chance to catch the criminals..)...and I had no insurance..
So PC Godbee is not telling the whole truth....and when I was working I got a report that the commander of the 10th precinct was shaving numbers ( I reported it to the FBI)...
Godbee should not be the PC..Detroit needs an outside highly respected chief....

I think you hit the nail on the head Dave. It's under-reporting by the citizen. The lack of response from the police (almost 30 percent of the calls don't get a response). The reclassification and the shaving by commanders.
You got to admit it's a good news report when the prosecutor is calling it bullshit. And while we're at it -- 7300 less part1 crimes! That'd be a world fucking record. I take it as an insult to call me in, give me some color paper and tell me to disseminate it to the public unchallenged. I promise I will stay on it.

DETROIT POLICE - VIRTUAL PRECINCTS ??
VIRTUAL DETROIT POLICE PRECINCTS !
OMG - Detroit Police Chief Godbee has foisted / imposed / the most outlandish Reorganization Plan on the residents of Detroit - that will put Detroit Police Officers and residents - lives in danger...!!!!!
He will close precincts - a necessary public building that should be kept open, at all costs - close City Hall, cut the City Council staff and budget - but keep police precincts OPEN - 24 / 7 - Detroit is not Boston or Lansing, it is Detroit a deeply troubled city with very serious crime problems. Say Goodbye to Detroit's false claim of 'community relations'.
Godbee, the Chief that shouldn't have been, and with the apparent approval of Mayor Bing, will close the precincts between 4pm - and 8am ( 16 hours) to the public. Precincts have been an essential safe haven, crime reporting, and contact point between the community and the police - it is outrageous and simply, defiantly wrong to close any Detroit Police Precinct for any time.
There needs to be some restructuring within the police department - some inside police duties should be shifted to sworn civilians - but to denigrate and deceive Detroit residents, into believing that police officers don't serve the needs of residents by working inside the precinct stations - is a damnable lie - and Chief Godbee comparing officers who work inside to "Maytag repairman - waiting for a crime to happen" is insulting, and clearly dim witted. Godbee has insulted all police officers in Detroit and throughout the nation, with this clear misrepresentation of what police officers do - while assigned to inside duties.
Detroit needs more police officers on the street - patrolling, but officers are needed to take thousands of police reports that citizens make inside the station - that patrolling officers can't take - which frees officers to keep patrolling.
Detroit needs police detectives in the precincts - to investigate the crime that patrolling officers and desk officers take - they need to be the contact point for residents who can't figure out where to go to get follow up information - on their reported crime.
Crisnet, the primary crime report system for DPD has been a mistake and a ball and chain around the ankles of police officers since former PC Ella Bully-Cummings approved using it - it keeps police officers from properly patrolling the streets - I have complained about it for years - former Asst Police Chief Ronald Haddad (now Dearborn PC) wrote, and infamous memo, confirming my criticism of Crisnet and every police chief since Cummings has said - Crisnet would be dropped - it has not been - so police officers continue to be burdended by a slow crime report system.
Councilman Gray Brown, has said that he could save DPD $8 million dollars, but has failed to put his suggestions on the table - but continues to try con Detroit residents with his ignorant blather - rather that putting a concrete proposal out - so it can be discussed.
Bing put his faith and the lives of Detroit polic officers and residents in the hands of Godbee - and we have got NOTHING GOOD from him.
I have complained about the low hiring standards, lack of training and lack of equipment in the Department, and for years about the nepotism, favoritism and cronyism that has corrupted and destroyed the Detroit Police Department.
I have said for years that Detroit police officers and residents deserve better from its political leaders and it police executives - Godbee's 'virtual precincts' and his lack of real, solid, and creative solutions to the Departments problems and Mayor Bing's support of him - shows that both Bing and Godbee need to be replaced, and the sooner the better - for the safety of officers and residents.

MICHIGAN ITEM PRICING - REPUBLICANS WRONG
REPUBLICANS FAIL MICHIGAN RESIDENTS - NO ITEM PRICING ROBS RESIDENTS
If you have gone shopping today - the Christmas Clearance Sales - you will have been confused and angry, that the items you wanted to purchase that you thought were marked down, were NOT...they didnt have an item price and the items were put on shelves with a generic 50 - 75% off signs, but they were mixed and matched, in some cases, with regular merchandise, allowing you to believe they were clearance items. In most cases - you couldn't tell what your purchase price was because - it was not priced and you had no way other than to go to the check out lines to find - the price.
Wal-Mart have shelves of Christmas merchandise next to regular store items and customers pushed and shoved them together and so no one knew what was clearance. There are not enough price scanners in any of Michigan stores and the Attorney General Bill Schutte is failing to monitor the - out of control - robbing of Michigan consumers.
Staples, CVS Drugs, Macy's, Target etc etc etc have failed to make the switch from item pricing to shelf pricing much more harder by failing to properly tag items on the shelves and to make them readable to seniors and customers with poor vision and anyone that can't bend down or raise up to see the pricing on the shelves.
The stores fail to have sufficient price scanners - and in locations so that customers don't have to drag merchandise around the store to get a price. Stores also, fail to have their computer pricing match, the regular price, discount price or clearance prices.
Michigan residents are being robbed, cheated - because their is no enforcement of the No Item Pricing law and the penalties are insufficient to force businesses or to encourage them to comply - the penalties are a joke - and with no enforcement
Michigan no recourse - complain to the AG Schuette - most resident just wont complain, to the AG or store manager - but you must.
If you have a problem with a purchase price, make a scene - get the manager and complain to him, complain to the corporate website by email or phone - Don't allow yourself to be robbed by businesses that make millions and billions of dollars, while you may be pinching pennies.
I don't know how other state get by without 'item pricing' but Michigan residents are not be protected.
The 99% must be protected...Republicans in Michigan are not doing it....DLM

ITEM PRICING - MAIL IN REBATES - CHEATING MICHIGAN RESIDENTS
I accumulated 175, 630 PNC Bank Points (April 2007 - lost some) they are good for
48 months. I had to call their Manilla, Philippines call center to redeem them as cash - it took 36 minutes...
I redeemed 170,000+ points for $344.00....
What do you think?? - which are good programs and which are not - when I looked to buy something with them a year ago - the items for purchase were at MSRP (it seemed) and not a good buy...is it better to take cash???...............
Also - The non Item Pricing Law is cheating customers - stores are failing to post visible prices and those that are posted on shelves are too small for seniors or people wearing glasses to see...and stores are just not posting prices on items, leaving customers to lug item up to the cashiers.
Younkers in Lansing had at least 4 items with no price visible and their pricing kiosk was malfunctioning. Now four items don't sound like a lot - but I didn't check for more.
CVS has one price scanner - requiring you to lug any item across the store to it....they also have clearance items with no prices and computer prices, that dont tell you what the previous price was - so you dont know what the amount of savings are for an item.
Staples has a clearance shelf and table where some items are item priced and others that are not - and sometimes the price and computer price don't match up - leaving the buyer at the mercy of the store clerk to give a price.
There is a serious lack of price scanners in stores...and lack of enforcement to make stores comply - now consumers are at the mercy of stores - and their computers, which often are updated properly. Consumers are getting cheated.............................
Mail in Rebates - are cheating Michigan residents out of millions and millions of dollars - because of the extensive requirements that are needed to redeem the rebate: original receipt (what if you want to return item?), original or copied sales receipt, rebate form, etc...and you have to pay to mail it in...and then it may get lost in the mail or at the rebate center, and unless you are very very organized - you may never know that you didn't get a rebate.
Stores should be required by law - to issue the rebates at the cashier....that way customers get their rebates instantly, no muss no fuss...and if item is returned - the customer gets what he/she paid for item.
Contact your state legislator and tell them of your concerns and tell the store manager - you are upset with these failures to protect the consumer and register a complaint with the company via their websites...
We need to say: We deserve better - we deserve to be protected.
