NEVER AGAIN ???????? SANTA FE...SHOOTING

NEVER AGAIN ???????
'It was happening everywhere, I knew it would eventually happen here, I was so scared' female student Santa Fe High School..
NRA - TRUMP - CONGRESS - GOVERNORS, LEGISLATORS, POLICE CHIEFS, AMERICAN PUBLIC....BLOODY HANDS..

Another HS shooting, 10 dead, 10 injured...again it happened again again again.
After Stoneman Douglas HS shooting people offered up prayers and condolences to the victims and vowed to do something to make students and schools - safer.

President Trump stunned the media and America by saying he supported some 'common sense' gun laws...then got fixated on 'arming teachers', which teachers rejected saying, give us more money for school books, supplies, counselors. He back tracked and essentially did nothing, since.

Trump went to the NRA National Convention and LOUDLY proclaimed that 'your 2nd Amendment Rights are under attack, warning them to be vigilant, supporting their Pro Gun Agenda, thus ignoring the majority of Americans that support 'common sense' gun laws. His rhetoric ignored that fact that more school children have been killed, this year, than soldiers in War zones.

'Good guy with a gun' - bull shit....remember the Sixth Precinct shoot out - a man brought a gun into the precinct and opened fire..on officers, who were caught off guard (because of a poorly designed counter / entrance - that I warned them about). He was killed but not before shooting officers...

TEXAS SHOOTING......

Gov call for 'all stakeholders' to give comments on how to protect children...including '2nd Amendment supporters - who value their guns' but didn't ask that anti gun advocates speak up....he later included them....as an afterthought.
But talk talk talk....again again again....the 'common sense' gun legislation is known...it is common sense, it needs to be debated in Legislatures and Congress and given a Vote - UP or DOWN so that voters know where the elected officials stand on each issue...

SROs - can't protect large schools....there is a proposal for 1 SRO per 1,000..students ????
It would be as advantages to put more money into Counselors for students, better food for students, school policies that encourage students - if they see something - say something - without be regarded as a snitch...A policy that is endorsed by students, school officials and parents....

Trump has failed to match words with actions...!!!!!! He claims to be the 2nd Amendment President - not the President of the citizens of the USA, most of which favor 'common sense gun control''. Governors, Legislatures, Congress and Trump must work to protect citizens...not the NRA....

Dave,
Thanks for the note. Just curious, what "common sense" gun law would've applied to the situation in Texas today?
Ken

Ken
Probably none ....age 21, no bump stocks, no assault rifles, no high capacity magazines, fully funding ATF, back round checks, but passage of these would have sent a message that Enough is Enough and Never Again (although it will occur again and again) and that the US is beginning to realize the mental health and deadly toll these shootings are taking on our collective psyche..
Trump, Legislators, Congress all decry the killings offering prayers but they must take real action to send a message that guns don't rule in America...

I say Trump because he is so aligned with NRA, (unlike Obama) that if he took a strong stand he could move the NRA and his base voters to support 'common sense' laws...that would START to make schools, churches, businesses safer places..
One commentator, Fox (?) talked about 1 SRO per 1,000 students - that isnt enough and in Detroit they dont pay enough to keep POs they have and the ones they graduate.

School teachers say give us more money for textbooks, etc...Schools need more Counselors and (see below - No bully policy, and report system)...
In Texas a SRO was shot...the shooter knew the SRO...so more police in schools may not be the answer...because timing and knowing the school schedule are important to a successful shooting.

'Good guy with a gun' - bull shit....remember the Sixth Precinct shoot out - a man brought a gun into the precinct and open fire..on officers, who were caught off guard (because of a poorly designed counter / entrance - that I warned them about). He was killed but not before shooting officers...

Cody High students to me - how the brought guns into schools thru metal detectors, buy wearing a large metal chain / medallion that set off the alarm and once they got thru the detectors the gun was in....

Please tell Fox News HQ stop using the shooters photo - oooohhhh so many times
(CBS was ridiculous), to psych disturbed publicity seekers - he's a hero....One photo ID enough - The public does not need to see a 'boy next door' photo ....repeatedly after he killed 10 people....It should be about victims...!!!!!!
I could go on on on....prayers and condolences will not stop a determined boy / man / woman with a gun...We must make using a gun to kill someone - a more serious issue... the slogan - Guns don't kill people, people kill people --- is wrong... David Malhalab
