MAYOR KILPATRICK AND MOTHER FAILED DETROIT, DETROIT POLICE NEEDS HELP AND LEADERSHIP.

DETROIT POLICE NEEDS: MONEY, LEADERSHIP, MOMA AND SON KILPATRICK HAVE FAILED DETROIT RESIDENTS
Dec 26, 2007 11:48 PM Category: News

Holidays:
The Detroit Police Department is now running double-digit cars in the police districts over the holidays in answer to the rising crime. Officers are working numerous hours of overtime. This latest smoke and mirrors increase in overtime will only last until January 3rd.

Michigan's Self-Defense Act:The law allows people to use deadly force, with no duty to retreat, if they reasonably think they face imminent death, great bodily harm or sexual assault. You can use deadly force anywhere you have a legal right to be.To clarify:Carjackings, Break-ins and other potentially violent crimes, even those that occur away from your home, you can defend yourself or love ones. If you are eligible you should consider a CCW permit or some form of home protection. If don't know a personal trainer we will recommend one for you.

DANEROUS DETROIT POLICE STATION, VACANT - OPEN TO TRESPASS, $$$$ WASTED AND STOLEN

Danger.....clear and present ...Danger...

The 8th police precinct bldg is a clear and present danger to Detroit school children and residents. It is in much worse shape than reported by Florence Walton of WWJ radio. There are broken windows with jagged pieces of glass ready to fall on anyone looking or going inside... the front doorway of the 8th precinct is open to trespass as is windows that are broken out - that can also provide entrance to the bldg..that appears ransacked....police paperwork is strewn in the lobby...the second floor detective bureau windows are broken out.. as is virtually every window in the precincts garage...desks - tables - typewriters are have been tipped over - collecting dust and surely vermin lurk in this place of refuge for them...any person - child - malcontent who has a grudge against police can go in and get a modicum of revenge ...glass can fall and kill a child,in a second or they could slip and fall inside - die - and no one would know...

This did not happen overnight or within the last week...has no city employee or city official noticed the continuing damage and desecration of this place that provided work and safe haven for Detroit residents and visitors... The Mayor and Police Chief need to be halled into Blight Court, fined and made to be locked up in the closed jail cells and made to serve their time there...where prisoners no longer are held - where citizen groups no longer meet, where police officers no longer work to protect residents and visitors...where detectives no longer work to solve crimes and work to prevent crimes...where frightened victims of crime can seek refuge and help...

Detroit deserves its ranking as 'thee #1 most dangerous city in America' because the Mayor and Police Chief closed police precincts - doubled up police officers in police stations not designed or capable of holding twice the number of police and their equipment...of closing jail cells - so that police officers can not lock up some criminals (and criminals know that)...of leaving police stations open to trespass and destruction...the DOJ (is a convenient excuse - for jail closings) but tell that to a victim - violated by a criminal who should be in a city jail, but who roams free..free to commit crimes because their is no space at the 'police district lock ups'....and because the patrol areas are too large to properly and timely patrol and respond to a call for help...or to catch a thief, murderer, robber or rapists...We have seen jail cell bars strewn on a vacant lot - as the 5th precinct was torn down - no more jail cells to hold prisoners. The 13th precinct will become a restaurant (?) as if Detroit had too many jail cells and tooooo few criminals / prisoners.

This is the state of the Detroit Police Department - which for years I have tried to get the media to investigate these conditions - and which they have turned a blind eye, voice and ear...where have all the muck raking, investigative journalists gone - gone far away from Detroit... reportedly 35% percent of news is not reported because it will hurt the 'bottom line' - the revenue of a news agency - what a disgrace...

Detroit has been hurt by its political leadership and its blind, deaf and dumb news reporters...Its time things change....NOW IS THE TIME...TO DO THE RIGHT THING...
David L. Malhalab Sgt...DPD..Retired

ps...safety of Detroit residents and visitors should be a concern of all suburban cities - for crime no longer knows or recognizes boundaries...safety in Detroit can lead to safety in the suburbs....

HUMBLED? MAYOR KILPATRICK - WHISTLE BLOWERS

Mayor, City of Detroit to settle whistleblower suits for $8.4 million

Mayor won't appeal cop cases

The payout on the Whistle Blower case, by the humbled? Mayor, who still fails to take responsibility for his actions which created the situation. He was not acting as the Mayor of
Detroit - but in defense of his personal indiscretions, and he should be forced by the City Council to pay the $8.4 Million dollars, but a weak Council will never have the backbone to require this. The Mayor can seek donations from his family and friends mafia. The payout will not end the bleeding of tax dollars.

The Detroit Police Department on and about 2004, began to violate federal Equal Employment Opportunity Laws (EEOC), by not hiring white applicants for the Department.
Qualified applicants were ignored, lied to and cheated out of an opportunity to work for the Department by a policy that discriminated against them. This is under the Kilpatrick administration. A lawsuit if forthcoming. The Department is now 73% black, and lacking true ethical and responsible leadership.
The must hire Detroiters edict of the Mayor will incur even more lawsuits and payouts for the City and it is a racist policy that should be withdrawn.

The City also, will payout Millions of $$$$$ in the Grace v. Detroit Police Dept lawsuit, in which the Department has a residency requirement for applicants - the City lost, and hundreds of claimants are winners - but the City is the loser.

Kilpatrick must be held accountable. State and Federal investigations must go forward until the real truth is known.

TO THE KILPATRICK'S, VERDICT FAIR, PAY UP, RESPECT DETROIT

MAMA KILPATRICK - A CONGRESSWOMAN NO LESS -
SHOULD - SHUT UP!

SHE SAID, 'WERE GOING TO APPEAL' - SINCE WHEN DOES SHE SPEAK FOR DETROIT. SHE IS WRONG TO SPEAK UP FOR HER SON, IN THIS SITUATION.SHE IS WRONG TO ENCOURAGE HIM TO APPEAL.

HOPEFULLY THE CITY COUNCIL WILL HAVE THE COURAGE, BACKBONE AND GUTS TO STAND UP AND SAY - IT'S FINISHED, DETROIT TAXPAYERS WILL NOT PAY FOR AN APPEAL - THIS IS A PERSONAL MATTER NOW, KILPATRICK - FAMILY AND FRIENDS CAN PAY FOR AN APPEAL, NOT DETROIT TAXPAYERS..

NOW IS THE TIME FOR THE DETROIT CITY COUNCIL TO STAND UP..STAND UP FOR DETROIT. CALL (313 224 4500) - COUNCILMAN KEN COCKREL, JR AND TELL HIM TO STAND UP FOR DETROIT - END THE LAWSUIT NOW. PAY AND WALK AWAY.

************************ **************************************************************
Facilitators and Enablers - those who support Mayor Kilpatrick.

"Even an ameba,(a one cell organism) knows better than to investigate the Mayor" - PC Jerry Oliver. That tells the awful TRUTH - that people think the Mayor is above the law - and he has acted that way and continues to lie deny and cover up his criminal acts - which are now hopefully being investigated by the Dept of Justice and FBI, at my request.

The Attorney General investigation was a farce and a crime in itself.I had to deal with a police department that if riff with nepotism, favoritism and croynism. It is poorly lead by police executives who make political decisions not decisions based on sound police policies.

This was proved in the Whistle Blower case - The people of Detroit, visitors and police officers are not properly being protected by the police department because of poor decisions made by police exectives that aren't capable of making those decisions and who are politically corrupted.

The failure after four years to meet compliance with the Dept of Justice Consent Decrees shows Detroit doesn't have the leadership to comply with the law and protect Detroit residents.Detroit has had poor political leadership - from its Mayors, City Council Members and school board members and a bad police department since - Coleman Young and it continues today - that needs to change, but it won't because the people of Detroit are being lied to and lead by people with poor ethical and leadership skills.

Detroit residents, visitors, school children and police officers deserve better.
***************************** *************************************************************
CIVIL LAWSUITS are different than criminal lawsuits.
The burden of proof is preponderance of the evidence and the Plantiffs did show that they were fired for trying to report and investigate criminal misconduct by Mayor Kilpatrick, which was their duty.

Remember this quote - " even an ameba is smart enough not to investigate the Mayor (Kilpatrick)" that from x-Detroit Police Chief Jerry Oliver, who was sworn to uphold the law, but abdicated his ethical, legal and morale responsibility and allowed DC Brown to be fired.
They were assembling and reporting information of criminal conduct by the Mayor, his wife and his body guards. They were stopped / fired for doing this - now hopefully the Department of Justice / FBI will begin to examine this information further, at my request.
The Michigan State Police investigation was obstructed by Attorney General Michael Cox, for political purposes and gain - he must be investigated, also - along with Governor Granholm.MSP Investigators are still collecting information about the cases.

Overtime abuses by Jones and Martin, which would have landed any regular police officer in jail or fired, were not pursued by the City or Attorney General - Why Not????? There was ample evidence presented by the Plaintiffs to justify this $6.5+ million dollar award and it should have been higher.
The City just spent $7.million dollars paving 10 acres of Belle Isle - where did this money come from - come from - the taxpayers of Detroit.

And now comes word to contradict the Mayor - he lied - Detroit has a budgeted $40 million dollar fund to pay for lawsuits against the City.

And look for $$$$$ Millions of dollars to be paid to @ 400 complainants in the Grace v. Detroit (Police) residency lawsuit, that the City lost - compensation packages are being prepared now - some will go out by the end of September. In this lawsuit the Plantiffs won because the City would not take applications for the Police Department from suburbanites.

The DPD is also facing a lawsuit for violating Equal Employment Opportunity Laws (EEOC) in and around 2004 - EEOC laws - for not properly processing white applicants.- where are the civil rights activists - now, more millions to be lost by the Kilpatrick / Bully-Cummings adminstration. They don't LEARN.

HIP HOP MAYOR KILPATRICK - GUILY - RESIGN

FYI...........
the verdict in the whistle blower case against the city and the mayor - shows the cesspool of corruption in the Detroit political leadership from the mayor, city council to school board continues - starting with Coleman Young and continuing today.
Detroit needs new political leadership ...now...and a new police chief not tied to the mayor...residents, visitors and Detroit police officers need to know that the Police Department is led by executives who make the best decisions to protect them - not political decisions. David L. Malhalab

Thank you for contacting me about the impeachment of the President and Vice President.

Under the U.S. Constitution, the power of impeachment lies solely with the House of Representatives. To remove the President, Vice-President or certain other officials, including federal judges, the Constitution requires an impeachment inquiry and approval by a majority of the House of Representatives. If the House approves the impeachment resolution, the matter is then sent to the Senate for trial. The Senate's trial determines whether to convict or acquit the person in question. Conviction requires a two-thirds vote of the Senate. Under the Constitution, the President, Vice President and other covered officials can only be removed from office upon conviction of treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

As you may know, on December 18, 2005, Representative John Conyers (D-MI) introduced House Resolution 635 (H.Res.635), which would have created a select committee to investigate the Administration's intent to go to war before congressional authorization, manipulation of pre-war intelligence, use of torture, and retaliation against critics of Administration policies.

Under the resolution, following this investigation, the committee would then make recommendations to the House of Representatives regarding potential grounds for impeachment, if any. This legislation was not considered by the adjournment of the 109th Congress.

In addition, Senator Russell Feingold (D-WI) introduced a resolution (S.Res.398) on March 13, 2006, to censure President Bush for authorizing the National Security Agency’s (NSA) electronic eavesdropping program. S.Res.398 was not considered by the full Senate before the adjournment of the 109th Congress. No legislation regarding impeachment of President Bush has been introduced during the 110th Congress.

As you may know, on April 24, 2007, Representative Dennis Kucinich introduced House Resolution 333 (H.Res.333), which sets forth articles of impeachment for Vice President Cheney. H.Res.333 states that Vice President Cheney actively sought to deceive the American public about the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and the country’s connection to al Qaeda. The Resolution also states that the Vice President’s comments regarding the use of military force in Iran are damaging to the national security interests of the United States. H.Res.333 has been referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary, where it awaits further consideration.Should matters regarding impeachment of the President or Vice President be brought before the full Senate, I will be sure to keep your views in mind. Thank you again for contacting me.

Sincerely,
Carl Levin

MAYOR KILPARICK SHOULD RESIGN - NOW...

Mayor Kilpatrick should resign.....now...

Is the Mayor going to bring the barbershop woman to court to tell - I manicured his nails??
Is the Mayor going to bring the fur coat woman to court to tell - I wasn't naked???
Are Martin and (Lewis) err Jones going to repay the false overtime money - or for the damage police cars????? If I or any police officer other than this - bada bing duo did this we would be in jail....in jail...............as an example to all...........
Is the Mayor going to say - the panties in the car - were Carlita's?????
Why isn't Carlita going to say - I didn't assault a stripper????? and threaten my husband?

He has lied to his wife (though she knows the truth), to the people of Detroit - he should resign, at least Clinton finally admitted his lies....and faced consequences...and the Governor and Attorney General maybe accomplices....

Kilpatrick allowed $1,000,000 in unnecessary police protection for his Leslie St. house - so he could party at the Mansion for a year ( I had to sit f/o his house)..while police runs backed up in my precinct.......no media listened to me then...if they had maybe this could have been nipped in the bud / prevented...

Kilpatrick should face the consequences that Young and Archer escaped and show residents, visitors and the business community that Detroit is not a cesspool of bad leadership ( including police chief's and council members)...
Let's talk............ David L. Malhalab - Sgt DPD Retired

Stephen J. Murphy
US Attorney, Eastern District of Michigan
Detroit, Michigan

Dear Mr. Murphy,

I request a Federal investigation of Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, Michigan Attorney General Michael Cox, Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and Chief Ella Bully-Cummings of the Detroit Police Department.

I request that you investigate whether Cox was paid off / bought off and conspired, with the Governor, Mayor and Police Chief, to obstruct justice by interfering with the Michigan State Police investigation of a Manogian Mansion party and his failure to properly investigate the Manogian Mansion party, in which the Mayor’s wife, Carlita, was alleged to have assaulted a female exotic dancer and her eventual homicide, and the cover-up thereafter, that resulted in the current Whistleblower case in Detroit.

Cox, I believe was paid off by the Governor and Mayor by not using his admitted adultery in the recent AG election and by putting up a Democratic candidate that was weak opponent for AG. Thus, the AG declared the ‘party’ and ‘urban legend’ and failed to assist and cooperate with the MSP investigation, leading to an incomplete investigation into alleged criminal activity.

BOYCOTT CHINESE OUTLET STORES, $$$ STORES

BOYCOTT DOLLAR STORES - CHINESE OUTLET STORES - FOR YOUR SAFETYAug 8, 2007 9:48 PMCategory:

HELLO DETROIT / DEARBORN HEIGHTS / USA

We should by now be aware of the danger of Chinese imports - toothpaste with radiator additives, wheat gluten with killer ingredients, soft backpacks for school children with too much lead, off brand items with dangerous ingredients, childrens toys (Fisher Price) with too much lead...uninspected seafood. We IMPORT food - can you believe that !! And not just from China - we EXPORT good food and IMPORT potentially dangerous and deadly food stuffs.. This has to change.......

But we must start by boycotting - $$$$$ stores, Dollar Store, 99 cent stores, Dollar Castle stores, WalMart and other - really just - Chinese import stores with cheap, off brand, sometimes fake brand name items that could harm or kill children and adults. It is primarly the poor who seek out these stores, in their neighborhoods, and who sometimes must shop at these stores, that are most endangered.

Stop the insanity of buying cheap possibly tainted Chinese items. They don't have the same manufacturing and safety standards that we do - and we are importing these items, which is hurting our economy and we don't see it or realize what we are doing to ourselves - it is time to STOP AND THINK..

Call or email your legislator or congressman and tell them to increase inspections and to impose health and safety standards for our imported merchandise and food stuffs ....

Terroists don't have to use bombs...just put lead in our merchandise and foodstuffs...sell it cheap - and let nature take its course - how easy is that - you would not want to know.....

IMPEACH PRESIDENT BUSH / CHENEY...NOW

IMPEACH GEORGE BUSH / DICK CHENEY - NOW Aug 13, 2007

NOW IS THE TIME...for a member of Congress to stand up and demand the Impeachment of President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney...NOW...

Bill Moyers Journal, July 13, 2007, Public Broadcasting Corp....now in repeat ....

Bill Moyers joined by conservative constitutional scholar, Bruce Fein, correspondent and author John Nichols, who presented a balanced non political argument for the Impeachment of Bush / Cheney who have violated the US Constitution, allowed the imprisonment and torture of people with no trials, illegally invaded the privacy of US citizens, usurped powers not granted to the Executive branch by the Constitution, lied to the American people and ignored Congress in an attempt to accumulate power.

Bush is not a KING...he is not all powerful - he and Dick Cheney, the foreign policy president have violated the US Constitution and must be held accountable - now even though their term is short.

Congress must demonstrate to this President and Vice President that the US Constitution is the rule of Law - and not the President and Vice President - the powers they have usurped must be stripped, so that future Presidents do not have them available to them.

Congress must hold Bush/Cheney accountable for trying to 'cripple the checks and balances and the authority of Congress and the judiciary to superintend his assertions of power'.
The case to Impeach Bush / Cheney is clear - what is needed is a person of courage to begin the process and begin NOW....

MAYOR OF DETROIT - MANOGIAN MANSION SCANDAL - WE NEED THE TRUTH

MANOGIAN MANSION PARTY - SCANDAL
Aug 1, 2007 9:36 PMCategory:

firejerryo.com CLICK N READ.................

Should whistleblowers settle?Last week the question was should the city settle with the whistleblowers this week the question is should the whistleblowers want to settle.Reasons why they shouldn't:

Reason #1: Personal ReputationsThe lives of Harold Nelthrope and Gary Brown and their families have been changed forever. Mayor Kilpatrick and his Chief of Staff Christine Beatty along with several subordinates or hired hands slandered and mischaracterized Nelthrope and Brown just because they were doing their jobs. If they choose to, they have the right now to go into court and clear their names and hopefully have their reputations restored. Believing that money can restore what they've lost after all the years of pain and mental anguish maybe the mistake of this administration.

Reason #2: People's right to knowAt the outset of this saga there were people on all sides. You had the apologist for Kilpatrick and well as the antagonist but more than both are those who simply want to hear the truth. The people have been given the bill for all of the high priced lawyers the Kilpatrick administration hired to stop this case from going forward and its the people who will be given the bill whether there is a settlement or a jury award. That said it seems only fair if we the people are force to pay for Kilpatrick's over indulgence we should at least know the truth.

Reason #3: Victim's Right to knowFormer Officer Walt Harris uprooted his family and left the State after feeling intimidated by emissaries of the Kilpatrick administration. Harris, you recall testified in a deposition that he drove mayor Kilpatrick to the lofts where Kilpatrick went inside with a female waiting outside the gate for him with just a fur coat on and nothing else. Harris, a former bodyguard for Mayor Kilpatrick said he also took Mayor Kilaptrick to the barbershop to meet another woman. Harris testified under oath that he and another officer found a set of torn panties in the rear of the mayors chauffered driven SUV after a night out by Mayor Kilpatrick. Other lives have been adversely affected by the entire Manoogian Party saga. Former Lieutenant Alvin Bowan was transferred for continuing his investigation of the death of exotic dancer Tamara Greene, he later retired. Other officers were harassed and threatened before leaving the department. Investigative reporters were threatened with lawsuits and in some cases told by their editors to back off. This writer was suspended and remains so for talking about the alleged party. Lest we forget the dancers who were killed who rumors suggested danced at the alleged party. Even though an open trial will not bring closure to the Greene family as I suggested before, what they believe or seek is undoubtedly different than what I think they seek.List your reasons in the blog..

PS...We must also know the TRUTH, If the Governor and Mayor conspired to pay off AG Cox - with a weak opponent - to NOT really investigate the Party and to frustrate the MSP investigation - David L. Malhalab Sgt DPD Retired

BRIDGES, ROADS... WATER

ASPHALT & CONCRETE CONSORTIUM ! and Water Conservation ..Aug 2, 2007

HELLO DETROIT, MICHIGAN, USA.........................
'A bridge in the United States should not just collapse'

But it did in Minnesota ..just collapsed killing unknown number of people at this time...the I-35W bridge........

When I ran for the Michigan Senate, I wrote about the Asphalt and Concrete Consortium, who have us trapped into spending billions upon billions of dollars for street and highway construction for the rest of anyones life - so far into the future that we can't imagine and end. I urged Governor Granholm to order a 'stop' to all new road construction in Michigan - she had favored that but the A&CC and their lobbyists got her to back off.

President Eisenhower spoke just before leaving office in 1961, of the growing threat of the Military-Industial complex - we still have that and I have added the Asphalt & Concrete Consortium..

We need an immediate end to all new road construction - and the begining of a concerted effort to repair all of our infrastructure problems - roads, bridges, water, sewage etc...a billions upon billions of dollar job - just in Michigan... I heard for the USA, its a $600 Billion dollar job - almost what we have spent on Iraq, so far.

Michigan should take the lead, with our depressed economy - the effort must begin - now, because each year the problem will grow more expensive and daunting...no new roads ...its a start.

PS: Michigan should also, introduce mandatory statewide odd - even water conservation programs - now - and lead the nation in trying to limit the waste of a finite amount of fresh drinkable water. Future generations may ever wonder and depise us for wasting water - conserve water NOW....

CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS....
Gardenview Estates needs some cows to maintain the overgrown grass and weeds that make it an eyesore....at Joy - Southfield roads...

Gardenview Estates - the old Herman Gardens Apt site has sat vacant for over 10 years. and promised development hasn't happened...WHY???

Can only millionaires or people who can afford $250,000 + for condos live in Dtroit??

While displaced poor and moderate income Detroiters seek a decent place to live, somewhere other than Detroit...

You worried about Tiger Stadium development, but not Herman Gardens and its displaced residents???

You ignore The Tombstone, the train depot, yet vote to tear down an historic landmark - that the City purposely dismissed development plans...

You let the DEGC lie to you, Corktown residents and the Planning Commission and reward them - with a gift of Tiger Stadium - WHY????

You ignore Ford Auditorium, which sits on very valuable and desired riverfront property and yet you - focus on Tiger Stadium - why the rush...NO MONEY...??

You failed in your duties to the people of Detroit..today...and have in the past....

Maybe, Detroit needs a more racially diverse Council !!!!

The Crisnet system, which was supposed to be paperless, but turned a simple report - a one pager under the old PCR system, into a 6 page + sometimes 24 page + reports that kept police officers OFF the street for long periods of time...

The Crisnet reports ....are part of the reason police response times are soooo long....

The DPD Reorganization plan is a failure.....no media reports on this.....WHY????

TIGER STADIUM - TRUTH AND LIES...NO DEMOLITION NOW

DETROIT TIGER STADIUM -TRUTH AND LIES... Jul 19, 2007 10:36 PMCategory:

Re: Stadium proposals fell short (Josar 7/19/07) Detroit News...

Letter to the Editors,

N------ up front" as abhorrent as the N-word should be to all people...so should the idea that historic Detroit Tiger Stadium sits vacant and plans for its redevelopment and maybe other development projects, in Detroit, were rejected because they lacked 'minority representation'. (Stadium proposals ... 7/19/07).

The Corktown district had to be expanded because a councilperson objected to the lack of 'minority representation'. Casino licenses were held up because of lack of 'minority representation'. What message does this send to legitimate developers - you must put up or don't develop, in Detroit?

The Detroit Economic Development Corporation (DEGC) and its representatives have lied to the Corktown residents ( it claims it represents), to the City Planning Commission which rejected demolition plans for Tiger Stadium, and are now with the Mayor's consent and blessings trying to rush plans for demolition thru the City Council. The DEGC report on plans that were submitted for development of Tiger Stadium, reportedly left out some plans, so that the full reasons for its vacant status can't properly be determined.

Tiger Stadium was and can be a viable entertainment venue and a revenue producing facility for the City, but the TRUTH must be told and examined - and yet it isn't - Why? Maybe the US Attorney, Stephen Murphy, and the FBI can determine the TRUTH about Tiger Stadium, where the money for security and maintenance was spent, by Mike Ilitch, if it was! and Why must lies and misrepresentation of the facts be included in the discussion.

Detroit needs the TRUTH about development proposals and none should be rejected because they lack 'minority representation'.

Mr. Watkins statement that there has never been a reuse of a major league ballpark is not accurate. The Houston Astrodome is still very much in use, largely for high school and other amateur events, including the Texas High School Football championships. Of course, the Los Angeles Coliseum was also a major league ballpark when the Dodgers moved, and it is still in use. There are of course a host of historic minor league parks that have been resused, including the famous Durham Athletic Park, in Durham North Carolina, scene of the movie “Bull Durham.”
I believe Joe Robbie Stadium, which is now called something else, is still in use for the Dolphins. It was of course for a while the home of the Florida Marlins. And the Olympic Stadium in Montreal is still in use, for the Alouettes and other events. Come to think of it, RFK stadium in Washington, which ceased being the home of the Washingotn Senators in 1972 (I believe) remained in use, first for the Redskins, and then later for DC United of Major League Soccer, and is now in it’s second incarnation as a Major League baseball stadium, housing the Nationals.
While we’re at it, the Polo Grounds in New York survived for many years after the Giants decamped for San Francisco, being used for numerous events, all the way from auto racing to soccer, before ultimately being torn down. And Exhibition Park, in Toronto, the first home of the Blue Jays, survived for many years, and as far as I know still survives, as the Stadium for the Canadian National Exhibition. So the Watkins statement is clearly erroneous.

Dear Council Members, The DEGC feels no prospective developers will come forward as long as historic Tiger Stadium is standing at the Corner. Has it ever occurred to the DEGC, or anyone else for that matter, perhaps the reason no developer will come forward isn't because OF Tiger Stadiums current existence at the site, but rather the fact the developer could go down in history as the one who replaced one of Michigan's most storied landmarks? You didn't have the problem of past developers and groups not coming forward (whose plans were ultimately shunned by the city) because their proposals incorporated huge sections of the current stadium into their plans thus retaining the ballparks historic landmark status. This may sound a little crazy to some folks, but this makes much more sense then the DEGC's claim the sight isn't Developer friendly unless Tiger Stadium is stripped and knocked into oblivion. I sincerely believe you'll find far more interest in the site by leaving the historic stadium intact. Tiger Stadium will present unique situations as well as many unique opportunities for developers recognizing its potential. This has been clearly evident in past plans for the stadium. And here is exactly what I mean when I say "unique situations".... Walter Watkins, employed by the city at the time, responded to me via email defending his stance why Tiger Stadium should go. His response, evidently intended to discourage me from fighting for the stadiums existence, was this.... "There has never been a successful rehabilitation of a retired major league ballpark." His statement is all the more reason why we need to pursue the path to preservation and utilization rather then demolition. So City Council of Detroit.... you have something very unique here. I pray you don't throw it away. Sincerely Dale Atkinson
PS ...TIGER STADIUM IS STILL A VIABLE ENTERTAINMENT VENUE... GIVE IT TO WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY FOR FOOTBALL . BASEBALL........ ASK WHY ..THE DEGC HAS TO LIE, MISLEAD AND MISREPRESENT FACTS ABOUT TIGER STADIUM....??? DAVID MALHALAB

Hello Detroit, Michigan, USA
If you want to speak out, speak up about the state of the City of Detroit, below are Detroit City Council phone numbers and email addresses..
Speak up an speak out: the Police Department and its poor executive leadership, that continues the low hiring standards, the lack of jail space, lack of a new jail/medical facility, failure to adopt a 'verified response system' that would make profit making alarm companies responsible for patrolling and checking their B&E alarms - that waste prescious time, free police services for the Lions, Tigers and Red Wings - while there are insufficient police officers to patrol your neighborhoods...
Tiger Stadium - Why does the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation have to lie, misrepresent and mislead residents, the City Planning Commissioners, and the City Council - Why??????? Tell the Truth !!!!!!!!!

$12 MILLION DOLLAR WALK THRU - NOW...Jul 9, 2007 9:22 PMCategory: News

Council President Conyers, Detroit City Council ...........
Please have the Council read the Tiger Stadium Lease and take a walk thru of Historic Detroit Tiger Stadium and see where $4 - 12 million dollars of taxpayer money has been spent or not by Mike Ilitch. It's obvious from the outside and inside that he has violated the Lease and taken money improperly - and a federal, state and city investigation is warrented.....
FBI REQUEST - INVESTIGATION OF MIKE ILITCH / CITY OF DETROIT
DETROIT OFFICE FBI - AGENT IN CHARGE
MICHAEL O'CONNOR, PUBLIC CORRUPTION UNIT - FBI
THIS IS INFO YOU SHOULD USE TO INVESTIGATE MIKE ILITCH....PROSECUTE FOR TAKING DETROIT TAXPAYER MONEY..EMBEZZLEMENT OF CoD MONEY...
Relevent Background InformationJanuary 1,1978 John Fetzer sells Tiger Stadium to City of Detroit for $1.00 and City agrees to lease back for 30 years. City gets $5,000,000 Federal Grant and issues $8,500,000 in revenue bonds to finance renovation of the stadium. Revenue bonds serviced by 50¢ surcharge per ticket which was increased to 90¢ to cover additional bonds in 1982. By Spring of 1989, all bonds paid off, but 90¢ per ticket still collected for "stadium maintenance" August 26, 1992 Michael Illitch buys Tigers and continues to collect 90¢ surcharge per ticket as follows: 1993, 1994 & 1995 - $3,908,463 *1996, 1997 & 1998 - $3,548,842 * after October 30, 1995 Memorandum of Understanding for new stadium October 30, 1995 Memorandum of Understanding between City of Detroit, Downtown Development Authority, and Detroit Tigers, Inc. to terminate original 30 year lease up in 2007. Tigers agree to deposit with City when new stadium is occupied sum of $2,000,000 for maintenance or demolition of Tiger Stadium. (Surcharge produced $3,548,842 for 1996, 1997 & 1998.) September 27, 1999 Final game (6,783rd) played in Tiger Stadium. Sept. 27, 1999 to date Detroit Tigers, Inc. have served as caretakers of Tiger Stadium furnishing field maintenance and security for a stipend of $420,000 per year. In addition they have received and retained all of the fees for use of the stadium. Including in part: Five Tiger Fantasy Camps HBO Movie about Roger Maris' home run record, entitled '61 Four Minor League baseball games sponsored by Michigan & Trumbull, LLC II. Wasting Asset/Conflict of Interest For two and a half years, Tiger Stadium has been a wasting asset of the City of Detroit. Instead of producing benefit in cash and kind for the City, it has caused expense and waste. The Detroit Tigers, Inc are not interested in the stadium being used for any activity which might conflict with their perceived entertainment monopoly. They view the stadium's future only in demolition. III. Back to the Future We see the stadium as a valuable City-owned asset with a viable future as a revenue generator - revenue that could be earmarked for the budget-starved Recreation Department, or more specifically for the Belle Isle Renaisance or to supplement "Mayor's time" activities. Where would the revenues come from? First, from the savings of fees being paid to the Detroit Tigers, Inc. for the current caretaking, and then from the fees received from activities promoted in the stadium - see sample listing attached. In addition to a new source of revenue, it is possible that Tiger Stadium could become a place of interest for the Detroit Convention and Visitor's Bureau. It is the oldest and only one of four (Fenway, Wrigley, and Yankee) original ballparks still standing. This year the Baseball Hall of Fame in cooperstown launches its traveling exhibit. What better stop than historic Tiger Stadium? Background Information on Detroit's Tiger Stadium www.michigan&trumball

No mention of my request that the Council hold Ilitch accountable, which cp Watson made reference too in her comments to the DEGC after public comments.. Ken Cockrel, Jr. and Joann Watson have said publicly (quietly) that Ilitch owes the City the TS money...but no one has investigated this.....Why??? Still no articles on ' where's the money '? been spent on Tiger Stadium. I was inside the stadium last Thursday and nothing has changed - has Ilitch even bought a bucket of paint with the $4. million he has gotten for the security and maintenance of Tiger Stadium???? The Council needs to get the Tiger Stadium lease and take a $12. million dollar walk thru Tiger Stadium - Ilitch has clearly violated the lease and taken money with NO accountability to the residents of Detroit - Why??????? HELLO DETROIT, MICHIGAN, USA
The Detroit City Council will hold a public hearing on an Economic Development Corporation Plan for Tiger Stadium- Monday July 9th at 11:15am at the Detroit City County building at 2 Woodward Ave, 13th floor - The plan for Tiger Stadium, which would include partial demolition (yeah right) and the building of condos and retail stores - is a rehash of previous announced plans, that have NO money and NO developers. The EDC wants to plant in the public's mind - the thought - that Tiger Stadium is of - NO value as a viable entertainment facility, as it stands - and that it has to be demolished for redevelopment.
Mike Ilitch, the billionaire, who has taken $4 - 12 million dollars for the security and maintenance of Tiger Stadium and it looks like he hasn't bought a can of paint since 1999 for Tiger Stadium - let alone properly spent Detroit taxpayers money.
The Mayor has failed to properly review and cooperate with developers ( Harry Glanz - Capitol Mortgage / and Peter Huithwaite - among others who offered money and plans to restore and utilize Tiger Stadium. So call Councilman Ken Cockrel Jr (313 224 4504) and tell him to save Tiger Stadium and to let the market place decide the value of Tiger Stadium - not the Mayor and Mike Ilitch...

WARRENDALE FIREWORKS - DANGER IN THE STREETS

FIREWORKS - DANGER IN THE STREETSJul 3, 2007 9:37 PMCategory: News

HELLO DETROIT, MICHIGAN, ALL OF USA
Danger in the streets of Detroit and the suburbs. The lack of fireworks law enforcement means that more woman, children and men face being injured, maimed, burned or killed because illegal fireworks enforcement is lacking throughout the Metro area.
A mother of three was killed in Melvindale (Mi) when fireworks exploded early and in her face. Where were responsible people and the police.???
Sheriffs Warren Evans and Mark Hakel said they don't have the manpower to check for fireworks violations, (Detroit News 7/03/07) we'll let the profiteers go crazy - sell illegal dangerous fireworks to anyone anywhere anytime. This statement gives encouragement to people to violate the law and endanger the public safety.
I did fireworks enforcement in Detroit and Romulus, (Michigan) and I found merchants selling illegal dangerous fireworks to minors as young as 6 years old. I have a photo of several children, money in hand wanting to buy fireworks. The kind that can injure, maim and kill.
In Detroit - No party stores, liquor stores, dollar stores and of course gas stations of any kind were permitted to sell fireworks of any kind, but I still found stores selling illegal fireworks - they faced a $500. fine and if a MLCC store a similar fine by the Liquor Commission - still they sold because the new the manpower shortages and the crime level meant, that they faced little in NO enforcement. They made huge profits selling illegal fireworks. Last 4th of July, Speedy gas station at W.Warren-Evergreen was selling fireworks at the enterance to their front door - an unimaginable danger and a show of disrepect for the police and public. I have the photo.........A large cube truck parked in a vacant lot, on a busy Detroit street, and sold from the back end, people came money in hand eagerly wanting to buy the dangerous items.
Scout 6-2 (Detroit) ' we have shots fired at W. Warren and Patton ' over 60% (conservative estimate) of 'shots fired' police runs (which are a Priority 1 run - must be answered) but over 60% are fireworks related police runs, so that means a serious police run may sit in the stack and wait for hours to be responded to...because of fireworks....I have photographs of children in the middle of Patton street, littered with fireworks canisters and children lighting them time after time, in a densely populated area with housing barely 40' from street and fireworks bursting over rooftops, and cars trying to manuever down the street... No enforcement...
If communities enforced fireworks laws, there would be less danger of injury and fires and would take less police officers time and patience. It would be a safer and happier 4th of July for all..........
The State should allocate funds for fireworks enforcement as it does for alcohol, and special traffic enforcement issues...Starting 2008...

HELLO DETROIT, MICHIGAN, THE WORLD
Congress should IMPEACH - George W. Bush, he has violated the Constitution repeatedly, lied to the American people, the world, and he and his administration with Dick Cheney at the controls have created an administration that equals the corruption that brought down the Nixon Administration. History will compare the two - with George Bush found to be totally lacking.
Constitutional rights and liberties have been tossed aside and ignored in the name of the War on Terror, the Administration is poisoned with political duplicity and the American people see the loss of the American dream and Ideals, laid waste by a political corrupt Administration. The world also sees -
The Democrats are failing in their responsibilty to act a a check and balance - Nixon got away with it for a while, Bush's although a lame duck and short timer should be held accountable - Congress should not play politics but due its duty to the American people and to the Constitution. Bush has committed serious impeachable offenses.
We spent years trying to impeach President Clinton for a sexual affair - this pales in comparison the the Bush Administrations - Constitutional violations, and he must be held accountable along with Cheney. It would show future presidents that the Constitution is the Law of the Land, not what the president's say's it is. It would show the world that our Constitution is a meaningful document that we don't want violated by the President and a document that they should envy and want for their governments.
Lead by example Congress - this is not a partisan issue - it is a matter of accountability, truth and justice for us all....! !
Tell you State Legistlators ( to tell Congress) and you contact your Congressman and Senator to impeach Bush / Cheney - it's the right and honorable thing to do... DLM

HELLO DETROIT, MICHIGAN, ALL OF USA.....
RIVERFEST 07 was a huge success, hundreds of thousands of people flocked to the riverfront to see the new improvements, the rides and have fun. BUTT ....coinciding with this was this back page News...
BLOODY TIMES in the neighborhoods, children killed, pregnant woman killed, drug deaths mount and while RIVERFEST succeds...
How many Detroit Police Officers were pulled from the neighborhoods and assigned to Riverfest, and used free, as security guards, by Mike Ilitch ( a billionaire) for the Tiger games that were played at the same time.. a continuing free service Detroit can no longer afford, but it still goes on... the rich get richer and demand more while the neighborhoods continue to decline, suffer and as the body count continues.
Call the Mayor (224 3400) and City Council (224 4505) and demand to know..how many police officers were not in the neighborhoods during the recent blood letting. The newspapers downplayed and buried the body count - not asking ' how many police were assigned out - to the Riverfest...while people die...your City leaders continue to fiddle and play....Why????

1200 NEW POLICE JOBS IN DETROITJun 26, 2007 11:40 PMCategory: News
Edit Delete
DATELINE: DETROIT Detroit Police Officers whose numbers will drop below 2,200 members, will get some added officers...1,200 police hires are in the works.. John Fischer III, 24/w/m, of Dearborn Hgts has just applied to the Department and wastold the DPD was going to hire 1,200 officers. (313 574 6965) DPD ranks have declined due to a new 20 and out, Act 312 award, low morale, low pay, poor management, low hiring standards, retirements and budget deficits. Note: DPD has a history of racially selective hiring practices. In the late 1970's - Mayor Young had federal CETA funds to hire 700 officers, he hired 1,200 causing a budget shortfall, that lead to the 1980 - 1985 layoff of 1,100 officers and a rise in crime followed - Detroit became 'Murder City' and the legacy of that continues today. During that timethe City discriminated against suburban applicants !!! In 1990 white applicants to the DPD filed suit in federal court (Grace v. Detroit) because DPD would not accept applications from non residents - Detroit lost and now millions of $$$$$$ are about to be paid out. In 2007, a federal lawsuit will be filed alleging that DPD did not properly hire white applicants, Detroit EEOC staffers failed to investigate the situation after being told and nowas Detroit is about to hire more police officers - the question is: Will they follow the law - or continue to violate it?????? Detroit Police are now have 73% black officers. Response times have been greatly increased due to poor management decisions including the adoption of the Reorganization Plan - the failure to adopt a 'Verified Response System', using a non compatible Crisnet report system and other bad decisions by DPD management. DETROIT POLICE DEPARTMENTJun 25, 2007 12:39 AMCategory: News

HELLO DETROIT- MICHIGAN - THE WORLD
The Detroit Police Department is FAILING to properly protect the residents, visitors to Detroit and Detroit Police Officers.!!!!
Police Chief Ella BULLY-Cummings - Reorganization Plan is a FAILURE, that has placed the lives of Detroit residents, visitors to Detroit and Detroit Police Officers in great danger. Detroit media outlets have for almost two (2) years failed to report on the Plan.
The Reorganization Plan closed over 50% of the jail space ..with no replacement cells available. She has not commited to a new jail / medical facility that is needed and wanted by the Wayne County Sheriff (her x husband) who would share the costs. Prisoners must be transported to the hospital with even the slightest hint of illness or injury - costing $$$$$$$ unreported by the Department or the media (that has been reluctant and negligent in reporting on the Department) .
The Plan combined small precinct areas, into unpatrolable large districts. Precinct building were shutttered cutting down on available space for computers, equipment, staffing and community services - so much for Community Policing. Detroit precinct buildings were not designed to handle the amount of prisoners and police officers now stuffed / jammed into them. Lacking computers, lockers etc... Police Executives are now also crammed into a District stations causing friction and adding to low morale...Prisoner overcrowding is a serious problem ignored by the Cheif and DOJ monitors.. Why ????????
DPD officers are saddled with a very time consuming Crisnet computer crime / arrest report system - that sometimes took as little as one page to a report - that is six +++++ pages long, and must be approved by computer by a supervisor or returned to the officer - often delaying the report being passed to the Investigative Section for hours, days, weeks. A report that often took a half hour is now - a hour and a half or more - meaning less officers on the street - less crime fighting - more down time that frustrates officers.
The Chief has also FAILED to implement a ' Verified Response System ' to handle Detroit 's very serious problem of false B&E alarms. The VRS was subject of a DPD report that supported implementation, by a prior Chief. A VRS system would put the burden of checking for false B&E alarms on profit making alarm companies - who would call 911 only if visible entry was observed by their security guards. DPD has been used as security guards for profit making companies for years - it should have stopped when PC Cumming took over - but her lack of imagination - shows her lack of qualications.
She the Mayor and City Council have continued a discredited program of using DPD officers, on duty - paid by the City, to act as virtual security guards for a Billionaire, Mike Ilitch, owner of the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings at their home games - as they also do for the Detroit Lions, owned by William Clay Ford (Ford Motor Co). There were discussions to allow DPD officers to work, off duty - paid for by Ilitch and Ford but but - they still work as security guards - word has it that former Mayors Young and Archer cut a deal with Ilitch to continue the free police services - but Mayor Kilpatrick refuses to change the policy, creating long 911 response times and lack of patrol officers in the new huge district patrol areas.
Under the Plan 911 response times have increased, officers now patrol areas twice the size as they did before the Plan - ex: the former Eighth Precinct (No.8) was widely recongnized as too big to patrol properly - so it was divided into two precints using Fenkell avenue as a new boundry line. The new Sixth Precinct (No.6) with a building was created, still and inmense area to patrol - Greenfield to Telegraph, Fenkell to Ford Rd - wow ...but under the new better???? Cumming Reorganization Plan - No.8 and No.6 were combined with NO.8 officers assigned to No.6 - which lacked sufficient locker spaces, computers, offices etcccccc......morale plummented and it remains low.
The DPD has failed to properly meet Department of Justice - Consent Decrees that dealt with police use of force and detention of prisoners and residents. Now, DPD is asking to be excused from compliance.
Detroit also, has a very low hiring standard for a major city - you need only a General Education Degree - a high school equivilenancy degree, be 18 years old with no misdemeanor convictions...Detroit has faced improper hiring lawsuits - Grace v. Detroit, a federal civil lawsuit (1990) that Detroit lost and is finally in the compensation package stage - Detroit would not allow suburban residents to apply for the Department.
The Detroit Police Department will soon face a federal EEOC lawsuit alleging that DPD failed to properly process and hire white police applicants - ex: a Wanye State University grad applied was not hired for over 2 years, he then began to attend law school and applied for a position with the Michigan State Police and was hired in 6 months; an Iraq War, Army Ranger with high level security clearance was not hired by DPD; an applicant applied and not hired was hired by the federal NTSA to work at Detroit Metro Airport and the list goes on and on...........Why???? No accountabilty by the City Council and the 'see nothing hear nothing do nothing' Board of Police Commissioners (the public oversight body). The DOJ monitors - where are they??? Detroit is paying Millions of $$$$$$$ for them - they appear to be a 'see nothing hear nothing do nothing' waste of money - but hey - they getting paid $$$$$$$$.
The DPD needs a new Police Chief, chosen from the best and brightest in a nation wide search, some say Detroit will never see a white police chief again - but color shouldn't matter - Detroit residents, visitors and police officers - deserve and should demand the best available - nationally recognized police chief - It's time the Mayor and City Council ' do the right thing' - ' right here right now ' ....
My comments were confirmed by DC Ronald Haddad who sent out a memo - oops.
David L. Malhalab, Sgt - DPD Retired
Hit and miss by News Hits staff
11/1/2006 ALSO ore from News Hits staff
News Hits got its mitts on an interesting memo last week, one in which a high-ranking member of the Detroit Police Department admitted that things weren't going well, and that the "department's ability to maintain its core functions in an efficient and effective manner has been greatly challenged ..."
Among the areas being impacted, according to the Sept. 28 memo sent to northwestern district supervisors by Deputy Chief Ronald Haddad, were response times, investigations and crime solving, and community police visibility.
Aside from keeping speeders in check and helping the valets over at Greektown Casino, we can't think of much more the DPD has to do. According to the memo, blame lay in the "implementation of new technology" and continued pressure to comply with requirements mandated by the U.S. Department of Justice. Under the terms of two consent decrees that date back to 2003, the DOJ is monitoring the Detroit Police Department to guard against improper use of force and witness detentions, and to ensure prisoners are properly treated once locked up.
David Malhalab, a retired DPD sergeant and one of the force's most persistent critics, forwarded the memo to us and other media in town. Normally, News Hits would get scooped on something like this. The daily newspaper and teevee folk have a big advantage over us, hampered as we are by the fact that this rag only comes out once a week. But fortunately, the other reporters in town apparently had their notebooks full with stories related to a matter much more newsworthy than whether our police department is getting bogged down when called upon to respond to, say, a robbery or rape that's under way. And what is it that's been demanding the attention of the area's newshounds? Baseball. The Tigers, you may have noticed, were recently playing in something called the World Series, an event, as best we can tell, of such earthshaking significance that little else matters.
But you don't have to take our word for it.
One reporter who received the same e-mailed memo we did was kind enough to respond to Malhalab with this message: "David. You realize the World Series is going on now, right? I doubt these e-mails will be followed up on until that media blitz is over. Just a thought. Stuff's going to get lost in the shuffle."
The Hits is feeling awfully remiss for falling down on the job by not getting to the bottom of that Kenny Rogers pine tar incident, not to mention completely blowing our chance to write an exposé about the favorite breakfast cereals enjoyed by our almost-heroic Tigers.
But, with the report out this week that Detroit has once again been ranked the second most dangerous city in America (with, ironically, St. Louis being both No. 1 in baseball and crime), we thought we'd follow the advice of that old major leaguer "Wee Willie" Keeler and keep trying to "hit 'em where they ain't." In other words, if the News and Freep want to become Sports Illustrated, (and, giving credit where it's due, they're doing a hell of a job of it) this column will have to assume the terrible burden of providing metro area readers with something in short supply: actual news.
Though we could be wrong about this being news. According to the memo, the so-called CRISNET technology — implemented four years ago as a way for cops on the street to move from paper to computer when submitting preliminary crime reports — is part of the reason the time it takes to process an arrest has increased from 50 minutes to as long as two hours.
But PD spokesman James Tate says that, if there's any news here at all, the memo should be seen in a positive light, with Haddad taking action and recommending corrective procedures to speed things up so that cops can get back out on the street more quickly. You identify the problems, then make the "tweaks" necessary to correct them, explains Tate.
But four years seems like a kinda long time to be working out kinks in a system. And Malhalab, who stays in close contact with people still on the force, contends that the department-wide restructuring implemented more than a year ago — with the city's 13 precincts being reduced to six police "districts" as a cost-saving measure — is also to blame. A legitimate criticism? "That depends on who you ask," says Tate. "With things like this, there's always two sides."
What's certain, says Tate, is that the restructuring plan is a "work in progress," but the key is that when "blips" arise, action is taken to address them and get things running smoothly.
